How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I got 2/3 laying girls (also have 2 that aren't laying yet). My BCM is taking a day off apparently. Yesterday she laid her egg in a metal pan of water in the run and it cracked. She's just recently started laying and always lays in the run. Super frustrating. I have fake eggs in the nest boxes and the others are making it to the nest boxes. She goes and scratches around in them but still lays in the run. I put a bigger box with tall sides and straw in the run today to see if she likes that. No sign of her laying today, though, so hopefully tomorrow.

@katieuppi I have one pullet who has used a nest box maybe once in the few months my girls have been laying. Everyone seems to favor her corner in the run at one point or another. I'm not going to argue over it with them. It's not covered, but she tucks behind a nest box on the floor with access from the front. She made a cute little round nest in there.

Can you let your girl have a corner or an area along a wall?

It's cold here, currently 58F at 1:35 pm. Had to turn on the heat this morning, was 89 Wednesday.
Found 2 eggs under roosts at 5 am, 1 broken.
3 eggs in nests at 9:30, 4/5 good eggs today. GC

I seem to be 4 of 8.. need to get the rest of the of the ameracauna moved to the main coop then can rebuild the new one #1 went out to close the girls in had one more so 5 of 8

I got 3/3 today. My BCM went from a peewee sized egg to a nearly jumbo egg today and managed to put it in the nest box instead of the run flour! Pretty good day around here

18 yesterday and 20 today, Love this cooler weather in 50s but not liking the shorter day lights.
