How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Today 4/5
2 = Dasher's, :eek: in her new nest.
0 = Missy's,
0 = Donner's.

No question about above! Both eggs in the new spot. One was her normal small brown and the other slightly smaller and a shade lighter with speckles.

Definitely not Donners; she has pale brown large eggs and she's too big to use the new nest Dasher found (a car wash tub under a step ladder in amongst garden tools!) :clap

Talking about blue, olive, pink and green eggs from EEs, I feel like Christmas morning each time we get this eggs. My blue layer unfortunately is no longer :(

Got 24 Eggs Today
Wow! Look at those eggs! They are gorgeous!!!!!!!! I hope one day in the near future I’ll have one similar. I’m 2/17 again today. But the WL laid again and I think the BR! So both my RIR took the day off.

Nah, you'll need them either way. It is called "chicken math".
TRUEST STATEMENT EVER. This is my first time witch chickens and I am loving it. I was supposed to only get 6-8... but when hubby built a coop for 30... I got 17. :) OOPS. I plan on waiting until these girls are at least a year before I start thinking about chicks. Although... I have almost given in a couple times. OY! P.S. I have a new layer I think. Tiny egg in a different box than where my other girls were laying. 30 grams. EEK!

Tiny first egg isn't unusual, especially for a girl that lays early.

Hubby is an enabler!!! I wouldn't get more chicks now if I were in your muck boots. 17 will give you a LOT of eggs. I am curious to find out if these girls that hatched last fall go through their first adult moult this coming fall. Generally speaking, unless given supplemental light in the winter, they moult in the fall then shut down until Feb or Mar. Chicks hatched in the spring typically (don't tell my 2017's, they will get a guilt complex) lay all through their first winter and the following summer before moulting in the fall and shutting down. I'd wait to get more until at least next spring.

Bear in mind that grocery store eggs in many states can be as old as "packed 45 days ago" and still be good weeks after. You can start stocking up eggs before they moult to carry yourself through the "dry spell".
