How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Then it got cold again and I have not gotten a single egg for 3 weeks does anybody have any suggestions.
Mine seem to be quite sensitive to the weather -literally within days of the weather changing (maybe 48 hours) mine all started laying (although it was the 'right' time so maybe co-incidence). We then had a couple of cool days and they dropped right off. Does seem odd about them all totally stopping though - I'd be suspicious too. I think a camera is a great idea :p
My wife took eggs, a kitchen item and recipes to our future niece-in-law's wedding shower last week. Why not?
I would rather have eggs than a few of the wedding gifts we got!
I think that is a lovely gift!
I bought 5 silkies that were supposed to be laying about 2 weeks ago. There were 2 eggs laid in the first 2 days and none since
I bought 2 adult silkies at the end of February (all the information I had was 1-2 years old) and they both stopped laying for at least a couple of weeks. Hermione then only laid for about a month before going broody and is now sitting on 9 eggs :D. I think it is probably just a settling in thing. How old are they?

Except for @PouleChick's silkies that didn't read the breed description in the catalog.
Well Hermione did - she didn't lay for 2 weeks after I got her then only laid for a month before going broody :lau (she must have read my memo saying that is why I bought her!). Doris not so much - even the day off that I thought I had yesterday was a lie - I found 2 eggs this afternoon so she must have laid very late last night - I'll have to start doing a final check at bedtime bless her!

Maybe silkies in France are different than those in the USA.
I think the sizes are different - I'm thinking I read that ours are bigger here than elsewhere - I shoudl maybe weigh one of them. How do you weigh a chicken????

I must be getting blasé (or just exhausted!) I can't remember what I got this morning - I think only 2 then I went out and Mabel was still on the nest but mustn't have laid as when I checked this afternoon there was 2 Doris the silkie eggs. So change yesterday to 4/4 and today 3/4!

3 for 4 today but my blue egg layer layed a tiny egg today. Should I be worried?

@karenerwin where have you been ma’am? I thought you got rid of your chickens? Glad your still around.
Thanks! No, I still have my chickens. Around 30 hens and 4 roosters! Plus 2 turkeys.
I should have more time to check in once school is out. The last day of school for teachers in Missouri, well, at least in my district, is May 17th!!
Then I'll disappear for 2 weeks in June. I get to go to Jamaica with a friend from high school. She has been going every year since 2009. I'm really looking forward to the trip!! I want to 1) ride a horse on the beach, 2) take an excursion into the rainforest, 3) go white water rafting ( yes, according to the internet, they have that there!) and 4) go parasailing. Plus lots of walking on the beach, reading books, swimming, snorkeling and maybe scuba diving. I haven't been scuba diving in over 18 years!!

My hubby will be on "chicken" duty. Hopefully, I won't loose too many. No matter how hard he tries, some usually die or get eaten on his watch. :idunno
Also, some usually go broody as well. (I don't think he collects eggs every day).

never had that when I was younger a hen killing her own ?
I think I have a broody that has done that recently. She went broody while my husband was taking care of them while I was in Arizona with my Mom over Easter. I have never seen her off the eggs at all, yet no chicks anywhere! :he I even found egg shells one evening that look just like they do inside when a chick has hatched, but I never found any other sign of chicks. She didn't kick them out of the nest or anything. She doesn't have them hidden up under her wings. :idunno She is still sitting on some eggs, but I'm going to have to pull out my incubator and kick her off, she has been sitting WAY TOO LONG!! I do know she has eaten some of the eggs that must have died. But ... :idunno

So I have 12 laying hens through the winter I was getting 3-5 eggs a day and I thought that was good. And it started warming up a little bit and I began getting 9 to 10 eggs a day for about a week. Kind of back to normal. Then it got cold again and I have not gotten a single egg for 3 weeks does anybody have any suggestions.

Increase their protein.
