How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

What breeds are you after AprilBarta?[/QUOTE]

I’m looking more for egg color than I am bird. I’d like a couple more white layers and a couple more dark brown layers. Maybe a golden campine or andulusian. If not I’ll be happy to get another white leghorn. I have a couple BCMs so maybe a Welsummer? I may have to order online.

I love reading and waiting about all your broodies! Maybe one day I’ll branch out and get some fertilized eggs and try the broody route. All my girls are still pullets until November. Although I feel like my kids would love to hatch eggs in an incubator!

@April Barta Welsummers are some really neat birds. I have two Welsummer hens and I just love their eggs.

The color in this picture isn't quite right. The one in the far right is from one of my Welsummer hens.

In this picture 7 of the 12 are Welsummer eggs. Four darker shell, 3 lighter shell. My RSL lays an egg that looks like the light shell one, just no spots on it.

So is Mabel but she didn't read the manual :lau:lau

Sounds exactly like my breed choosing - actually I look at the egg colour first but they have to be gentle breeds as well - don't want nasty old hens with my little guy (or roosters if I get suckered in ). How old are your kids? Mine are 17 (in a week), 12 and 3 - all boys!

They are lovely! Not seen them over here though!
Curious since the Welsummer was developed in the Netherlands.

Just feel useless and new to it all. I want to DO something!
I've not had hatching chicks but everything I read here says "don't help". I guess one can do damage trying to help.

Maybe a golden campine
I have 2 that are now just over 5 weeks. Check with me in a year and I'll tell you how I like them ;) DD1 choose them because they are "cute".

Ooh those Welsummer eggs are amazing!!!! I definitely need some of those.

My kiddos are 3, 5 and 7. Two girls and our baby boy is the youngest.

I wish I could have all the breeds of chickens! They’re all so unique and different.

I know - I'm not going to do anything except have a look (and remove revolting rotten eggs of course :sick:sick:sick).
you help often they are not quite healthy and die anyway
I'm wanting to avoid that so waiting for mother nature and Doris the Slightly Dim Silkie do thier things!

Aww cute - I never got my girl! I'm the same with the chickens!

I did get my 2nd egg - another of the rougher slightly paler eggs that always gets laid under the tree in the run not in the nest - so odd! And I thought that was Mabels party trick but obviously not as she is totally broody!

1/2 so far this morning.

Oh no are they due today? Maybe just delayed from the cooling down? How long do you think she was off? Is it cold where you live?

Yes I can much better (and no clicking on silly thumbnails!) - thank you! She is just gorgeous :love

They are due today or tomorrow, I was looking forward to see more hatch since I want more of the Olive Egger and Black Copper Marans
(The last incubator hatched 8 wks ago, I got 8 roo out of 13 :() Plus I promised a friend with 3 small kids a couple of chicks this week. Broody II was off probably for half a day. It was 60s (18*C) that day. Broody III & IV are due to hatch eggs later next week.

27 Eggs Today
