How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Anyone heard from @PouleChick lately? She must be super busy or on holiday? Wondering how’s her chicks from broodies.

Hi, thanks for tagging me Spartan22. I'm OK, not on holiday (no money for that with all the renovations we are doing!) just busy with kids end of school, heat wave, renos etc!
Been getting 2 or 3 eggs most days but really need to sort out some proper egg boxes as I have more chickens in the coop now!
Chicks are all doing well, the 3 big ones are huge and Hermione the Warrior Silkie has finally let them sleep alone (she has been still mothering them until this week even though they are bigger than her ). The 2nd lot are huge now too - havne't worked out what I've got roo / hen wise yet and my 3rd lot are still dead cute and pretty small, I realised I havent' taken many pics of them and have missed the tiny chick stage

School ends late in France!

I did that last year. Pics the first few days then nothing until they were a month old. I did much better this year. Now they look like real chickens, just bantam size. Still growing of course because they aren't bantams.

The big boys haven't really been going since mid - late June with exams going on at thier schools but the younger kids finished last week (7th July) - they don't go back until the 4th of September though - so a full 2 months off (longer for the bigger kids). When do the kids break up in the states? I have a friend who lives in Malta and they have over 3 months off in the summer

1/3 so far today but I think I need to a/ go for an egg hunt and b/ set up a random garden nesting box for my girls who free range.

22 Eggs Yesterday (wife texted me the count) since am on a biz trip in Atlanta again. She dreaded doing the chicken chores but no choice LOL.

My kids been off since late May and be back to school by late August, but they’re in private school.

Depends on the state, city, etc. My kids got off mid June and started the Wed before Labor Day which is the first Monday in Sept. And of course it is a holiday so they go 3 days 1 week, 4 the next then 5. Basically 2.5 months off.

Wow yes so you get longer than us. Australia was much shorter - only 6 weeks off in the summer (8 for private schools normally).

took a pair of banty laying white eggs to auction today will go tomorrow collect whatever they sell for then only 5 today but when three are banty no big loss that is why I am growing up others

I teach public school in Missouri. Our kids were done May 10th or 12th ( Whatever Wednesday was). How quickly I forget. ( and that was with extra days added to make up for snow days). The first day back for kids will be August 16th.

I actually got a full dozen eggs today!!
The girls got a lot of treats because I was cleaning out the deep freeze! There will be more treats tomorrow and the next day too.

Wow Karen, that is so early - I did always find it weird with US bloggers talking about summer starting etc but now get why - that is almost 2 months before we get off We have a 2 week spring break in April / early May then go back for the summer term until July (or June with the older kids and exams).

3/3 this morning but now I'm suspicious that the egg I found yesterday in one of the little coops in the afternoon may be Doris the Slightly Dim Silkie coming back into lay, her chicks are 6 weeks now so kind of makes sense, I think Hermione was about the same.
