Are you keeping all of them @Spartan22 I have 4 cuckoo marans.. a black copper and 2 EE oh yes also have 9 black copper being raised by my Silky

Yep am keeping all of them except the roos, which might be 50% of them. Unfortunately the 2 chicks I’ve place under the broody (#8) were pecked to death. It was horrifying to see healthy chicks get killed, there goes the plan to have the 3 broody raise them all.

Unless they are different in the US Black Copper Marans are clean legged - they are they ones that lay the very dark chocolate coloured eggs.

All my French Black Copper Marans are feathered legged and lays pretty dark eggs.

6 today . Now that they don’t get let out of the bigger run until later in the afternoon they are laying where I want them to and not in the neighbors grass and weeds.

Now if only the rest would start laying!

I have 1 Favaucana that is a year old the rest are around 5 months old now. Some are laying and some are not quite there yet. They are getting close though as most are trying to make nests and stay there for a bit.

I am in no hurry. We got another 5 eggs today so almost a dozen in 2 days with not everyone laying.

I don’t eat that many eggs and my husband hasn’t been keeping up eating them. So he has been selling them to people he works with and giving them to family.

I really am just in it for the chickens themselves Those funny little girls entertain me and are me laugh. That is one of the reasons that I hope to have a coop with a sitting area next year so I can hang out with them more.
