How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I have two 1 year old EE’s, one lays blue eggs the other lays very pale olive eggs and they both lay 1-2 eggs a day. I didn’t know t was possible for Ameraucanas & EE’s to lay more than once a day but I’m ecstatic to have these birds. They were a little late to mature with one of them laying her first egg at 9 months and the other waiting till she was 13 months old but I’m glad I waited so long. I recently got 4 chicks out of them & they’re all pullets so I’m excited to have more egglayers around. I feed them all my birds Gamebird 21% with scratch and my grass trimmings from when I mow the lawn and they’re the only birds I get eggs regularly from. My OEGB’s lay every 2-3 days but will sometimes be under a broody spell and lay daily for a week or so and then stop. My Phoenix doesn’t seem to be interested in laying an egg anytime soon and my Black Ameraucana is nearing her first lay so I’m very excited :)

It is very rare for a chicken of any breed to lay more than 1 egg a day. I have several EE's and they lay 1 egg a day. I think once I got 2 eggs from 1 hen in 1 day, but that is an oddity! Usually it happens when the bird lays one egg very early in the day and the other very late in the day. Can also happen some when they are just starting to lay, but then sometimes one or both of the eggs are messed up ( shell-less, soft shelled, that sort of thing).
I like my EE's very much.

I love my EE’s too! And the fact that they lay 2 eggs sometimes really is what’s most surprising for me. I collect their eggs every afternoon and some days it’s 2 eggs, other days it’s 3, and sometimes 4 that end up on my counter. And that’s what they do, they lay 1 in the morning and one in the afternoon, 8-12 hours apart. They’ll lay their eggs together and it’s the cutest thing, I’m sure that if it were up to them to incubate their eggs they’d take turns and coraise their chicks.

the baby blue is from my cream legbar it was on the poop board
that is so cute! Was it her first?
They are all being taken care of by the same Momma hen.:love
That is just adorable!
They are peewee to small in size. I hope they increase in size.
They will and pretty quickly too!

Can someone remind me what EE's are a mix of? They don't exist here (I don't think unless under another name!) but I think I want some and maybe I can breed them now I'm going to keep some roosters.

Easter Eggers are Ameraucanas that deviate from the breed standard or a mix between an Ameraucana and a non-Ameraucana.

First morning in ever so long that there was no eggs to collect :eek:I think the heat yesterday knocked them - it was nigh on 40c (104) all afternoon. I'll go down in a bit and check if they have laid late!
