I’ve hatched almost 50 BCMs chicks, so far all of them has white on chests and under wings.

Ahhhh see this threw me - I didn't realise that was normal!

Can you take close up photos of your Marans maybe I can give some hints?

Yep, I got one today as I was so excited to see some copper highlights coming through (I'd convinced myself it was just black!).

I'll try to get some better ones of him/her tomorrow!

@PouleChick, I assumed the chick in question is in between the 2, seems to me a lot of coppering on the back, indication of roo feathering, unless you have different standard FBCMs in France.

11 eggs today. My wandering chicken is no more. She was a barred rock that has refused to sleep in a coop for about a year or so!! She would cave on cold winter nights and go in the turkey coop with them, but she only slept in there a week or 2.
I was looking for some branches in the wood to add to a fire and noticed a few barred rock feathers. Not enough to convince me that she had been killed, but enough to make me wonder. Neither my husband or I could remember seeing her that day (Thursday). I made sure to check "her tree" that night ( where she always slept) but she was not there. I haven't seen her since then, so I can only assume that something helped themselves to a chicken dinner. I'm wondering if it was coyotes. We've been hearing them and their kits at night. Plus whatever it was carried her off somewhere else. A coon would eat her there, a hawk would leave a circle of feathers. Honestly, we are surprised that she lasted that long outside of a coop at night!!

21 Eggs Today, 3 eggs from the new 18 week old layers hatched late March. Six chicks hatched from 7 Eggs Today, 4 Black Copper Marans and 2 Pendesencas. Pretty good % hatch rate.

Sorry Karen to loose them like that is tough... only 5 here they do not like the heat
think a br layed the 5th on the floor this afternoon I promptly put it in the pan thinking to hang it buy missed the hook it landed on the floor in the pan but broke they older gals are not letting the younger in the nests

Penny you just have to teach those older girls to share!!

only if I could catch then in the act I have been known to let newer in the box standing guard from old hens but it worked
