starting this coming friday to down size will take 7 to Auction 4 silky then there are 3 in the second room my lone survivor from the first marans hatch is a cockerel the two hatchery EE are pullet but the coop is full don't need them in there think week after I will take cuckoo marans to action only hold on the the bc marans through winter 9 from main coop so far

Ha ha ha I can lie if you want? Speaking about roos, I think I got 16 roosters out of 22 chicks from the hatch 2 wks ago, my luck

I know right? Nature forgot about the 50% rule LOL. I guess that’s the reason sometimes when you order pullets chicks from hatcheries and they will say certain breed suddenly became unavailable, all that hatched might be all cockerels.

It’s been hot here! Around 80-90 degrees F. I’ve been fighting one broody after another. They have been easy to break and lay quickly after. All of them bantams which is interesting. Been averaging 12-13 eggs a day.

The juvies are about 13 weeks? I’m guessing. Some are getting close to big girl size. They’ve been let out and we’re working on playing nice. The bantams really challenge the juvies. My big girls don’t care as much.

The big girls will care more when the juvies are close to their size. They aren't real competition when they are little.

I have four layers and I got one egg.
My husband modified the nest box area yesterday and it’s not as open but still accessible. I wonder if they’re bothered by that?
I always thought a chicken will lay no matter what if they ovulate...

Nope if they do not like the setup they will lay where they choose to or not at all
2 more when I went to close them in just way to hot here it is 90 again birds do not do as well when it is so darn hot
