We had rain almost every day last week (currently raining) and next week looks to be more of the same. Only 1 day forecast to be sunny and 1 day partly sunny, the rest are rain or thunderstorms. Oh well, April showers bring May flowers.
My barred rock was still on the nest this morning! I think I will put at least part of the eggs I won in the auction under her when they arrive. The rest I will put in the incubator. I can always sneak them under her later.

I was planning to kill all the “yellow stuff” on my front yard and side yards but rain is on the “End Game” forecast for 10 days.

I got an 8 month old OE that’s been sitting on 8 eggs since Wednesday, hopefully she’ll stay put since she’s pretty young, none of the 7 broodies last year had repeated their motherly instinct so far. Talking about sneaking chicks in, I’m still traumatized from the 2 chicks I sneaked in last spring, that was injured severely by a broody with 5 chicks in the middle of the night. Don’t know if I ever have the courage to gamble perfectly healthy newly hatched chicks.

I came out with 8 new high this last year adding at least 6 EE or OE and 3 or 4 marans pullets will perk things up

I need to find one more good customer I got rid of all my eggs yesterday morning and have 6 dozen in the fridge again.
