How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

10 eggs today. I trade one of my extra roosters for 6 pounds of fresh tomatoes and a quart jar of home canned pickle spears! Plus he said he would bring me extra tomatoes because they are swimming in them.
I promptly canned 2 pints of crushed tomatoes and 5 half pints of tomato salsa. :love

I got 10 this evening.
Also found out the sad end to the rooster I traded for tomatoes. My friend was having his son hold the rooster ( by the feet because that's what I do to keep them calm) while he drove the short distance back to his new home. I offered them a box but my friend said no. His son was all for getting a box. He was not thrilled with holding the rooster. He was intimidated by the rooster. Anyway, come to find out, they make they drive home just fine. But I guess my friend hadn't gone over what the plan was when they got there. So they park near the road and the son freaks out and lets the rooster go. The rooster promptly runs across the street and hides under a big bush. My friend gets on one side and has his son on the other side. The rooster of course runs out the sons side when my friend tried to grab him. The son freaks out thinking that the rooster is attacking him and is kicking at the rooster to keep it away from him. Now the rooster runs deeper into the woods. My friend tries for 2 hours to catch the rooster. He does finally catch the rooster and puts him in the coop in the barn ( after his mother gets on him about how that is what he should have done in the first place so that the rooster could get comfortable and learn that this is home & safe first before being turned out with the flock of hens). The rooster did loose a handful of tail feathers in all of the excitement. My friend's arms are all covered with scratches from the bushes and thorns !
So now my friend thinks everything is good and calmed down, the rooster has food and water and so he and his son head to their house. His mom calls him 3 hours later to tell him that the rooster has died.:barnie :he
I guess the stress of being chased for 2 hours did him in. I would have told him to stop long before that and to set out a trap with chicken feed in it and to go back and check it in an hour or so, but he felt like he HAD to catch the rooster because we are friends and he didn't want to have to tell me that the rooster had gotten " away" or "lost" or whatever in the woods. :rant
So, he had good intentions but they went horribly wrong. :duc
Poor rooster.
