How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

4 more in the woods/field and one buried in the mud under a downspout. What's up with that?
Time to have a talk with the hens! Or maybe lock them in the coop for a day or two. I understand that can sometimes get them in the habit of using the nest boxes.

That hen keeps going in and out of the nesting box but won't lay.
She's working up to it. Mentally she is ready, physically just NOT quite.

7 today. Good thing 1 customer was OK with only half a dozen this week. As it was I had to wait for the girls to lay 2 of those. Another customer is out of town this week, again good since they would have gotten zero! Time for the girls to get back on track. A week ago, and for the last month at least, I've been selling 4 dozen a week, 5 dozen two of those weeks.

You need to apply chicken math to your customer's problems.... :)
I already did! I have 23 hens. 2 of the 3 oldest ones (7.5 years) typically only lay enough to go broody then quit and try to hatch the pine shavings. The other started laying again about a month ago but quit after a couple of weeks. I am expecting her and everyone else to get back on the manufacturing line in a week or two.
