I feed Purina Flock Raiser 20% protein. Their eggs are absolutely enormous too! Today one was 96 grams, the other two around 85 grams. I do not know how these birds can eat enough in a day to keep pounding out these monsters!View attachment 2604792The white eggs run around 70 grams and the little Faverolles egg is around 50 grams.
Awwesome!!
Yeah I reckon it's partly due to the high protein diet. I can only feed my girls a pullet crumble feed as they don't seem to stock a high protein all-purpose flock feed in my local store. Also I've got a roo so I don't want him to be poisoned by high amounts of calcium in the layer food.
Have you gotten offsprings from these super-pumpers? Might be a good idea to keep a record of their laying capacity and see whether that correlates to their genes and/or food.
