How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I feed Purina Flock Raiser 20% protein. Their eggs are absolutely enormous too! Today one was 96 grams, the other two around 85 grams. I do not know how these birds can eat enough in a day to keep pounding out these monsters! :gig View attachment 2604792The white eggs run around 70 grams and the little Faverolles egg is around 50 grams.

Awwesome!!

Yeah I reckon it's partly due to the high protein diet. I can only feed my girls a pullet crumble feed as they don't seem to stock a high protein all-purpose flock feed in my local store. Also I've got a roo so I don't want him to be poisoned by high amounts of calcium in the layer food.

Have you gotten offsprings from these super-pumpers? Might be a good idea to keep a record of their laying capacity and see whether that correlates to their genes and/or food.

I don’t have a rooster and I don’t keep records. These are still pullets, they won’t be a year old till May 24. There has been only 3 or maybe 4 days since they’ve started laying that they didn’t all lay every day.
It’s funny because I didn’t want sex link chickens, but these were what my feed store had last summer as started pullets. I’ve been really happy with them, they are so friendly and then of course there’s the eggs! Lots and lots of eggs! I think I paid $7.50 each and they have more than paid for themselves.
