How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

2! One from my RSL who takes no breaks, and one first egg from a d’Uccle pullet!

6 eggs so far this AM (half are duck), many butts in nesting boxes. The larger, older duck nest has been abandoned. Just harvested 36 eggs from it. If anything is viable (hahhahahahha!) its going in the incubator - testing the new candler now. Everything else is joining the +protein bin until I have a chance to do another burn.

Of the thirty six duck eggs, 24 are very fresh with little to no development. As I don't want to incubate ducks at the moment, those will get added to the feed and turned into a wet mash for the flock today. Its more eggs than should be offered to a flock my size on any given day, but I won't do it again this week. Two more have obvious blood rings, look to be a couple days development, yolks the size of a half dollar or so. another probable blood ring. Three pretty clearly contaminated (my clay soils, for whatever reason, are really good at staining the shells and penetrating the bloom, with the expected results. The remaining six are "uncertain" and will be joining the other known fails in the +protein bin.

Then I'll check boxes for more eggs again, while I'm out there. Never a shortage of things to do.

/edit 3 more (chicken) eggs, five bird butts in their respective seats. Will check again later. After yesterday's bonanza, I'm expecting much lower volume today.

/edit 4 more eggs, one of the prior chickens still has butt in seat... Damned procrastinator!

/edit add 4 more. Slow day. 17 in total, thus far.

/edit add 8 more. 25 before dark.
