How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

0 today! one of my pullets has decided to not lay all week, little stinker.

Got 8 but should have been 10. Found egg shell and a wet yellow spot in 2 different nests today. SILLY GIRLS. Don't they know if I catch them eating their eggs I am gonna eat them.

Sell them! My chickens pay for their feed now. People are scrambling (no pun intended) for cheaper eggs. I have more customers than I have eggs. I keep having to turn folks away. And yes, I do give them away to friends and family.

I plan on selling my extras. I just feel bad charging for tiny eggs right now. They just started laying 2 weeks ago. They will be 24 weeks tomorrow. The eggs are really small, but they're getting bigger. But none I would consider to be a normal size egg. I have 14 pullets, 1 cockerel. I know at least 8 are laying. But I don't think all have started laying yet. I wasn't really expecting anything until spring.

Had 6 from all the big girls. Went to the poultry auction today bought 5 hens.
4 large girls, 1 black bird, 2 wellsummers and one easter egger. We also picked up black cochin banty.
Prices here are the same for little and the same for big eggs.

I've thought about it. But I'm fortunate enough that I don't need the money at the moment. And since I'm getting eggs much sooner than I expected... If I can help others with some tiny eggs, I will. And will continue to do so, even when I start getting normal eggs. I'll sell some to recoup some of my feed cost. But I'm not looking to sell enough to where Uncle Sam will be looking for their cut.

I don't need the money, either. I tried giving them away, but folks insisted on paying.

I got a second egg yesterday. This weekend, we had all homegrown eggs for breakfast. I'm going to make a loaf of bread and use up some of those second rate store bought eggs.
