3 today. I’m 4 short of the TOTAL for last month already.

I think I’ve convinced DH we can add a handful more in May to keep our supply up next fall.

After yesterday's disappointment of finding a broken softshell egg under the roost, today was as good as it gets. Seven perfect, clean eggs from my seven chickens.

I've started to let them out to free range for an hour or two in the evenings. I think it makes them happier.

The nesting boxes were empty today so unless one of the girls is hiding them while free ranging everyone took the day off.

Only one today. Août has laid 13 days and counting. The newest layer seems to have laid a shell-less egg while roosting, and my other girl sat in the nest box for 30 minutes, gave it a good solid try, but no dice.

I got 7 there slowing down but glad to see my young ones are still laying steady.
