How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I’ve been doing this for about 5 months now and they like the egg shells much better than the Oyster shells they peck the run clean.
I wonder if they can taste the dried up egg white, yolk and membrane that's on the eggshells?

I have a big bag of those reconstituted oyster shell/coral chunks. Should last me a lifetime as slow as they eat it. I have powdered some of the oyster shell chunks in my coffee grinder and mixed it into wet layer pellets. Guess that's one way to get rid of them.

Show off 😂 very nice.

6 days worth.
The problem is I realized there is a poultry catalogue right behind the eggs.... sometimes you just don't realize you have a problem. Lol!
Also I just dealt with all the eggs yesterday. There were 227 eggs! All sizes. I get probably 7 small bantam eggs a day which fills in all the gaps LOL

5 eggs out of 6 hens.

My diva Orpie hasn't laid an egg in months. She's barely 2, but molted right before it turned cooler and the days got shorter. She's my golden retriever of my flock so I just let her be. She is acting normal so I am not worried about any health issues. She wasn't an every day layer to begin with. I was kind tempted to chicken shame her on social media for being a free loader, but don't want word getting back to her that I did that and have her hold out longer just for spite. LOL

I started giving my birds supplemental light on Dec. 1. We have 20 hens and 1 rooster. We'd been getting zero to 3 eggs a day. In this last week we went to five, then 8, then 11 eggs a day. We're doing it all wrong according to the article on the subject, but it's working! We're giving additional light at both ends of the day, not just mornings. And we did it abruptly, not gradually. I turn a light on in the hen house at 5 am and DH turns it off when he lets them out at daylight, between 6:30 and 7 am. I turn it on again at 5 pm and he turns it off at 7 pm. That gives them a total of 14 hours of light a day.

So, this last Friday I didn’t get any eggs. The next day I got one. None yesterday. But today I found four eggs hidden inside a stand of Crepe Myrtle in my front yard. They’ve never laid eggs outside the nesting box before.
