There was an egg where Rahab was sitting, AND one in the far right box.

Maybe they poked it with a toe nail? I've had that happen before when a lot of eggs were in the nest.

No just two eggs in there. Can’t remember about the other day, but I don’t let eggs build up in the nests. Esp this time of year!

15 today - one had a peck hole in the air sack end, darn second one like that in a week. Someone is not playing nice in the nest box.

Edit that - found 6 more eggs so 21 today! And then I found a blue egg behind the Hen House ‘B’ door, not sure when it was laid! It wasn’t frozen so maybe today? So 22 eggs today if so

So much for figuring my ladies would slow up with the cold weather.

I got 6 again today.

It was so cold today. I gave them a little left over homemade vegetable soup. It was a hit!
I saw a feathery blur and it was gone.

6 eggs, I could not collect them yesterday due to tons of ice.

. I took our compost thermometer and tested the ground underneath the leaves on one of our days that was in the single digits, and it was 40°! No wonder they’re always making little craters to lie in!

That’s crazy! I didn’t save any leaves this fall…it was so wet I couldn’t get a pile of dry ones!

Another 9 today, and none were frozen! Thankfully tomorrow is the last of the single digits. We should get to 40 again early next week. This weather is crazy!

Ended up adding another pack of pine shavings for them too in the coop. They are so spoiled!
