3 today, from Juin and Août.

Yep, Août laid two for us, a banded and a soft-shelled egg. We’ve been up way past their bedtime trying to help her to push that last egg out, but she succeeded, and now we can all sleep easy

The girls were generous again, giving me 7 perfect eggs!

She gave me a scare earlier, acting like she had another stuck soft-shelled egg. After a while she calmed down though, and she’s eating, drinking, preening… all the normal things!

I think she’s doing better, thank you so much for checking in on her!

7 today. I'm surprised that we even got that many. With the temperatures we're getting, I wouldn't be in any mood to lay. I wouldn't blame them either.

Jade again saved me from getting skunked on eggs! No eggs today til this evening. I did see the remains of a soft shelled, just a membrane egg early this morning, but they ate it. I got a Banty egg tonight.

I have 14 quail hens just 6 weeks old yesterday and starting to lay this week, got 10 eggs today, 3 double yolkers (and several fairy eggs and soft shell eggs this week). It is interesting to watch their bodies try to get the hang of this egg thing!

Got 5 eggs today, ate two and have 20 sitting on the countertop. I'll sell two dozen later this week.

I cleaned most of the old bedding out of the coop and replaced it with a thick layer of composted wood chips, all full of mycorrhyzal fungus and other tasty treats for the chickens. They are digging through the new coop bedding now.

I saved a half bucket of the poop-rich bedding I pulled out and will use it sparingly as garden fertilizer around some of the plants.
