When I went in the run to get the eggs I saw one hen running to the nest and the one in the nest looking guilty. I knew something was up.

She had been eating an egg. Most of the inside was gone and she had eaten half of the shell. Chicken dinner is starting to sound pretty good. I don't need an egg eater.

In addition to the eaten egg I got 5 good ones.

I would so be making chicken and homemade egg noodles. YUMMY

Well, two eggs so far today and some egg goo from the egg sucking birds. Guess I'll try to make a roll away nest box today.

Correction: Only 1 today, from Juillet. Juin sat for a long time, but today wasn’t the day, and Août also decided to fake me out and pretend to lay this morning.

The roll away laying box is finished. I thought about trying to ease them into using it by leveling the laying pad and throwing some bedding onto it but I'll wait until tomorrow to see if they'll lay in it as it is. It's definitely captured their curiosities.

15 eggs today, but…. One was a soft shell-less egg (blue, so likely Petunia still laying soft eggs); one was a brittle shelled pink egg (that’s Butterscotch), and the other 13 were perfect.

4.5 dozen eggs in the fridge, have a customer dropping by tomorrow for 4 dozen.
