How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

3 :)
but i stupidly broke one in my coat pocket 👿
8 today, I went to pick up one and my numb fingers caused it to slip out of my fingers, and bounce off the nestbox wall back into my hand! And it didn’t crack or break! It was only about 4” it went flying so not too far. But it did make a good thud noise! Good hard shell on that egg!

She’s a beauty is she a Dominique?
Thank you! Yes, she is a standard Dominique. I have two, and one is still a pullet. I’ll be interested to see if she is as prolific as Juin, but I’d still be happy if they both only laid 200 a year like my Marans. To be fair to the Marans though, their eggs are quite large in comparison to Juin’s, so by weight it might be that they all have laid the same.

Personally, I think your 32 hens talk to each other about egg laying....whatever the issue/s is/are, the outcome is that they seem to be on strike. :) Would be good if you find out what their demand is.
I'm at my wit's end. Nothing I do seems to make a difference. Organic ACV in their water, nutridrench, jalapenos, 22% feed, 16% feed, more feed pans, 11 gallons of water, greens, grit. Always oyster shells.

We got two new hens in July, and my daughter suggested separating them into our mini coop that's in the run to see if that makes a difference. That and adding a timed light in the coop are my last resorts. They definitely molted hard in July, though. Our rooster still has pin feathers. He's almost 5. He's separate, fwiw.

So no demand from your girls :) Like you say you have done everything, might be just the weather, my chickens do not lay egg when they molt.
I noticed with my flock whenever I feed them cayenne pepper for a day or two, some of the hens lay massive eggs with double york in it, so I was told that chilly somehow have them lay 2 yorks... so might think about the Jalapenos chilly.

I was just teasing you about your 32 hens not laying. If that was my hens and I done all that I could like you did, it must be the molting, the cold weather because 32 of them doing it. That is just my take if that was me. Some of my hens don't lay every day. I did everything so long they are happy and healthy, I am happy. The illness that is the worry.

Your girls will get back to laying eggs before you know it. They just decided to take a break, let mom buy eggs at the shop for while so she knows how hard we work. :)
