It's called Shook's Poultry in Claremont, NC just up the road between Statesville and Hickory. It's not what I'm doing, that's for sure. I think it's beginner's luck and the fact that we have the Gold Comet breed. They're just the best egg laying machines you can get. MxPres got his 19 GC's from there too and his gals have been matching mine egg for egg.
 
Yesterday 1/3 Today 3/4 Our buff has now taken 2 days off. One of our Barred Rocks are laying as of today so she made up for Mildreds' lack of egg production. Poor girl has been working hard to get our first carton full. Eating our own eggs tomorrow for the first time!!
 
2/23 again from the same two hens, I guess the rest of the 'ol gals just ain't intrested in donating to the cause at this jucture. I sure hope they get with it before too long as it soon will be time to start up the 'ol incubator to get the next group of layers to be ready by next fall. I like to get my chicks hatched out early as possible so they'll grow off quickly before the heat wave moves in as they sorta go into a lull in the hot summer months. I think that's what happened with my youngin's this time as I didn't get them till after Easter and they didn't get a good enough head start before the winter months caught up with them. The rest are in molt and that's understandable at this time of the year.

Too bad since I was going to order baby chicks from them....

I got 4 out of 15 today.

been getting 9/10 most days sometimes10 sometimes 8 ,2 fried egg sandwiches everyday egg drop chicken vegtable soup for dinner last night dont tell the chickens:D
