How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

The hens are officially at full throttle over here. 302

Still no eggs. I am going to have to come up with a new threat. I have told the drakes they are safe for the moment.
We are having an unexpected thaw even with forecast of thunderstorms tonight. This is a problem because there is still 2 feet of snow, grounds frozen so nowhere for the water to go.
My run is usually above the surrounding area but is now well below snow level especially with all the extra snow on the sides from the roof. It is already muddy. Any suggestions on what I could add to the run floor. Should I be worried about the ducks feet? There are some dry areas, and their coop is raised to dry and accessible to them all day. They are locked into coop at night.

1 more Karen egg today, not sure how much longer she will lay though I can tell she is starting to think broody thoughts.

Oh dear, getting grumpy is she? I love that Muscovy girls have a special chirpCHIRP! that they use when they are headed to broodyville. The broodier they get, the louder and more emphatic they become!

I have to admit that I’ve been letting Matilda and Puddles build up a little nest over the past few days. They were getting upset about my egg-stealing ways, and we’ve been getting along so well! I’m surprised the Muscovies haven’t taken over the nest to brood. I guess they can’t go broody if they’re not yet laying for the season. Or can they?
