I'm overwhelmed with egg orders! I had Steven deliver 4 doz last night to a lady at the Moose Lodge, I didn't feel like going,, another fellow wanted to know if he had more so he called me and I said there were 3 doz in the fridge. He came home and got them, the guy wanted 2 doz and 3 other people wanted the other dozen,,, he gave them to the lady who asked first and a fellow tried to outbid her and told Steven he'd give him $5 bucks for the eggs but Steven stood his ground and said no, it was $2 and she was getting the eggs. So he comes home with a list of names totaling 6 doz eggs and phone numbers for when they are available. One lady wants 2 doz. every week,,, he explained to her we aren't a commercial business, we just sell the extras to pay for the eggs. This morning a car with 2 ladies pulled up and they said they drove all over Chaparral looking for my truck, they wanted to know if any eggs were available yet. I told them the hens were still asleep and I'd call them!

I, too, can sell all my chickens lay and more.

My new little Comets should start laying in July.

Yesterday I sold 2 dozen for $3.00/dz and again today another 2 dozen, same price. Got orders for 4 dozen for tomorrow which I may be able to fill if we get at least 16 eggs today, and if Hurricane Julie, our Dearly Beloved Daughter, doesn't blow through and abscond with a dozen or more before I can catch her... The good thing is we have now have 30 hens and pullets. We got another 11 GC pullets (18 Wks) from Shook's Poultry two weeks ago and now we've put them in with the older Gals (1 Yr +/-). They probably won't be laying until the first of July if they follow the others pattern when we added them. Right now the older Gals are laying really good dispite the angst in the henhouse but they're also spending a lot of time picking on the newbies to set the pecking order. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes for the next week or so. Teresa said this morning all 11 of the Youngsters were sitting up on the roosting bars inside the coop and the others won't let them come down. We put a dish of pellets and hung a waterer inside for them so they won't starve to death or get dehydrated. She said one would jump down and be on the ground inside the run for about 30 seconds before they get attacked and chased back up on the roost. Not pretty.

I am selling my first 2 dozen today. We have been giving our eggs away to family and friends, but are selling our first ones today.
