How many eggs would a quail lay a day/week when kept under natural sunlight? people say its a lot during summer because of the longer hours but not that many eggs in winter? i can't keep them under constant light as i cant afford to have a light on 24/7!!

14 hours of light you will get about a egg a day.

A 40W incandescent light bulb cost about $115 a year to burn 24 hours a day. A fluorescent light bulb cost about $35 a year to burn 24 hours a day. Christmas lights or a led would be less then $10 a year. However you don't need 24/7. You only need to add however much it takes to get them over 14 hours. If you only getting 7 hours you need to add 7 hours, if your getting 10 hours then you need to add 4 hours of light. So take those dollar amounts & divide them by 24 the multiply by the number of hours you actually need then you can divide that by 12 to see about how much it will increase your bill. Actually in the winter the incandescent light bulb will put out enough heat to make up for the amount of energy it is using. They are very efficient heaters.
