We have a Brinsea Octagon 20. For those of you with experience with these, how many normal size chicken eggs can be put into lock down?? The book that comes with it says it will hold 24 chicken eggs. Which, during the first 18 days while they are nose down, thats pretty true. But for lock down when you want them laid on their sides, that many will not fit.

In our last hatch with this incubator, we started with 21 eggs and had 17 left by lock down. Laying them all on their sides fit but it didnt leave much room. Only 8 hatched, and even with only 8 chicks it seemed incredibly crowded.

We're getting ready for our second round of eggs going in and we're curious to know how many eggs are ideal for lock down with that amount of space? If you have this same incubator, what do you aim for?
