How many eggs?

I was wondering how many eggs will be in a hens nest before she starts sitting. Ours are Red Sex-link.

Well, it's really not a number of eggs, it's a hormonal thing. You could have several eggs in a nest, and if a hen's not broody, she won't set on them.

Do they have a minimum but no max?

If a hen goes broody she goes broody and dosnt seem to care if there are eggs or not some people use golf balls and wooden eggs (not shure why ) ect .

I'm pretty new to this...but when mine went broody none of them went until there was A LOT like around 20.

I didn't realize it wasn't the number of eggs. I was surprised there were so many....but only a few hatched.
