How many hens??

Somewhere I said, I was going to do around 30 in the 8x8 coop with the 19x23 run. It also has a large sheltered area that most of them like to be under instead of in the coop. The other 20 will be in another pen and coop area I have. I will most likely be expanding the coop, or adding another one. Does that make sense?

I also frequent a message board for Moms, and I have the habit of referring to everyone on message boards as she, but I have been realizing that that isn't always the case here, so I've been trying to not just say she all the time. Haha!

Maybe I am wrong, but from all the stuff I've read and heard, 30 chickens is way too many for an 8x8 coop. I thought I was pushing it when I was talking about 16... even with a very large run. That is only 2sqft per chicken, so if they ever have a day where they have to(or want to) stay inside, they are going to be packed in like sardines... Maybe if you had to do a lot, do 20 in this pen and 30 in the other? Just my $.02

I wrote somewhere also I was most likely going to add another coop or expand it

I thought I would just write I am a she, as it helps to get to know the person better, and understand. Puts stuff in a different perspective.



These chicks are going to grow so slow, compared to the Cornish I grew a few months back.
