How many here are actual backyarders vs. Farmers?

2 acres, 3 goats, 1 rabbit, 33 chickens and 2 dogs, I think i could still count as a backyarder

Backyarder. 5 and a half acres, 42 chickens, 5 dogs, 11 cats and multiple fish inside and out

We live in a "mini farm" subdivision out of the city limits though.

Although just on 5 acres, it's a very full, "assorted" and busy lot. Plenty of animals, crops, gardens, etc - All taken care of by one person.

I live on an old farm over 110 years old in the world of farms but still a back yarder. we have nothing but the birds.

both a back yarder and a farm dweller here.
the situation is a bit more complex than most...am living in a residential centre and we have chucks onsite [only henny at the moment unfortunately] in a large eglu/run.
we also own a farm even further into the countryside-we used to have many different breeds of chucks and roos including silkies and bantams but we had attacks from more than one vixen there which wiped out most as well as our ducks, same as our urban chucks-we lost penny and ethel to a vixen with cubs.

Backyarder w/ 3/4 of an acre here. Backyard wildlife habitat with lots of trees and shrubs, flower beds. Greenhouse, 12 x 14 shed with 1/4 chick coop, big run, four 4 X 4 raised beds. So why does it take me so long to mow????

Backyarder - no question about that... we have 1/10 acre in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego. Just barely big enough to be legal under the current "50 feet from neighboring residences" rule. There is going to be a city council hearing in early October about allowing goats in the city, and reducing the distance requirements for chickens. If that passes, many more people in San Diego would be allowed to have chickens. Some of the lots are pretty small.

Greetings All!

What is the definition of a "Backyarder"???

I am not truly a farmer although I own 20 acres.

My birds are a very small part of my "operation" and I feel like the animals own me.

Does that qualify???

70 ? chicks

All these animals require a LOT of cleaning to keep the "backyard" from smelling like a "farm".

Inside I have....
1 corn snake
1 meal worm farm
9 fancy mice and babies
1 chicken brooder
