How many here are actual backyarders vs. Farmers?

Backyarder.. we live on 8 acres surrounded by woods.. BUT we rent. Most of the 8 acres is used by our landlord, who treats us like GOLD btw, but we are clearing a section for me to use at my discretion:) We have 9 chickens now, and a small garden as the original garden has been taken by the shade. We are going to build up our gardening area over this summer:) Coolest landlord ever. I asked for chickens and he said sure! I asked to move the garden?Ok! Hmmm wonder what he would think of a pig?

Suburban "backyarder" for a bit over a year...1 white peacock, 8 goldstars, and added just this yr (hopefully all will live) an assortment of 26 new baby chicks! Of course, the standard 5 dogs, and fish. Kids grown, moved out...no neighbor complaints yet (we do tend to keep them supplied with fresh eggs though).

While a small farm would be tops on my agenda if I ever won that big lotto, I'm absolutely mom to backyard chickens--and a backroom rooster who sleeps inside so when he crows in the early morning the neighbors don't get grumpy. I got my first peeps cause I teach nursery school and chickens show the entire cycle of life in one short season. My girls are contraband cause of antiquated local zoning ordinances. I also rehabilitate small mammals in my little plot of paradise so size of yard doesn't mean there's not lots of room for feathered (and other) friends. BTW--I know of folks in NYC who have apartment chickens

Suburban backyarder. Nondescript house with 1 acre of land from a former farm, saved from developers back in the early 80s. Across from a country club golf course. Whoot! I feel kinda subversive, I must admit.

Well I am a farmer I guess, b/c I am miles out of any city limits and I have 160 acres of crop fields, pastures, woodlands, grass lands, and wetlands.
