How many here let their dogs/pets sleep in their bed with them?

My shelty slept in the bed under the covers with me 6 of the 7 years I had her till she crossed the bridge. Now my Healer/whippet sleeps in the bed under the covers against one side of me. On the other side my male tabby cat sleeps and my female Bengal sleeps on top of the covers between my legs. (I'm a belly sleeper) When my 4yr old sneaks into bed with me they all get up and move to the end of the bed or jump off till she is situated. When that happens they all jump back up and Zoey the dog will lay between us with her head on the child and the cats resume their positions on thier mattress.

You know I think I am going to have to get a king bed if I ever find a man.

Sorry NO. With four dogs (all sleep inside) it's important to maintain order; as in the two legged people are in charge. We dole out the food as we see fit (no stealing Willies food, Molly) and we set boundaries for the dogs. One of these boundaries is no dogs in the bedroom. So, not only are they not allowed on the bed, but they can’t even go into the bedroom. Other house rules are no dogs on furniture, no dogs in the craft room (this includes husbands sometimes), no begging for food, no barking in the house (try that with a Pyr), the two legs go out the door first, no jumping into the front seats of the car, no chasing of the chickens, etc. These rules not only keep us sane, but the dogs learn about limits, being frustration (and dealing with it) and that we rule the roost.

Don’t get me wrong though. I love my dogs. This is not a military school. We are the leaders. But, we also spend much of the evening spooning with the dogs.

Uh.... if only that was a deterrent to my cats. Nothing seems to budge them and when we do toss them off, they just circle around, waiting for next opportunity to pin the blankets to the bed. You know you have been sleeping with cats too long when, even in the deepest sleep, you cautiously move your feet, making sure you don't kick anything because you are fearful of getting your toes bit or clawed.

Yes, my 14 year old cat has trained me well.

My basset scarlet only sleeps with us when we dont feel well or she doesent the other one violet sleeps on the big dog bed they are supposed to share in the mudroom.

the chihuahuas are split custody. when they are here with me, sometimes they sleep with me and sometimes not. they never should because of allergies, but well, they are cute. and warm. so i can't help it.

Oh yes the "claw" i get it if i dare to roll over or intend on moving a leg or arm, they really have us wrapped around their little fingers(claws) dont they!

our little dogs and the hairless cats do sleep on and in the bed. the nekkid kitties want to be UNDER the blankets which is pretty cute. they don't have hair to get all over the sheets so i don't mind.
