how many is too many?

How many eggs should I let my white rock hen sit on? I am a little worried I put too many under her... And is it too late to take some away if I did...

Is she covering all the eggs she's sitting on? And how long has she been sitting on them?

If they're all covered it's perfectly fine. If not,I've heard of hens that "rotate" which eggs are directly under her every hour or so. I wouldn't fret

She is covering them all! She won't let me take any!!!

She went insane like 4 weeks ago and started refusing to get out of the nesting box... So 7 days ago we got her some olive green eggs to sit on... Fingers crossed a few of the 16 will hatch and be girls! No roos allowed where we live :/

I'm no expert but, I don't candle eggs that my hens sit on. I just let them do their thing. Usually they sit on the eggs, after the first chick hatches they will sit for another 2-3 days to see if others hatch. After that, she moves on and takes care of her babies. I clean up any eggs left behind.

You don't have to, unless you want to check if they're developing and discard any iffy looking ones. Good luck with the hatch!
