How many of y'all actually remember maths you learned in High School??

Haha... I've never been "maths-y" only in the 2nd or 3rd class for practically my whole life.. I'm much better at art, music, science..

Algebra comes back pretty fast. But I never took calc and trig. For a good reason. Art history was easier. So was dropping out and taking the GED. Not that I advocate that. Back then, a GED meant you were stupid. Thank goodness not so much anymore.

They tell us diploma is better than GED cause it means you are not lazy.

Honestly it USED to be viewed that. Then again, the circulum was FAR different as well. These days people are viewing a GED from a SMART individual as someone who didn't want to waste time and get their life moving. Mind you I say SMART. Of course I have no clue the content of a GED test these days. I took mine in 1979. It was a cake walk.

"The sum of the square roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side" - Scarecrow (Wizard of Oz)

That all I know.

Got a GED in 1976 because I was bored with the work I was being given....it gave me the opportunity to start college at 16. I had accomplished more by age 18 than most 25 year olds had. Lazy...I don't think so!

I've actually used that A2 + B2 = C2 in some carpentry work.

When I worked at McDonald's, I got good at doing percentages in my head

Also use proportions all the time when I cook since I usually do 1/2 recipes

Since they teach quite a bit differently and require to do the work their new way, I had to relearn the new concepts to teach my own children. My dh is a college instructor, so his teaching skills towards the kids is much better then mine. It's too bad he is busy a lot of the time, which leads me to do the job.:p

The teachers have help guides online as well, showing examples how to do the work. They don't have workbooks like they use to. It seems like they change their teaching ways every year or two.
