I can have all the birds I want

I've lived less than 20 miles from my birthplace my whole life.....58 years. Other than a short stint in voluntary service in Colorado my hubby has lived on the farm that's been in his family since the 1880's his whole life...64 years.

I live 3 miles from where I grew up. I hope to get the parents place after they no longer need it. So, I guess I'll be back there some day!

Although, if everything goes south in my life, I'll probably follow!

We have lived all over the planet, through the US and Europe. And ended up right back in the same zip code, so we went far, but couldn't stay gone. It's funny, got as far as 5500 miles away, and ended up right back here. 1 mile from where I grew up, and 2 miles from where husband grew up. After being gone some 8 years... nothing much has changed even for a big town.

Ive lived in the same town my whole life. Lived in the same house will be 26 years this June. Our DD still is home with us and will probably always be and thats ok with me. We raised 5 kids here. All still live here in the same town. We live on the edge of town in what my 5 year old grandson calls grandmas farm, his other grandma and grandpa live down the street. I just couldnt imagine livivng anywhere else. Just too set in my ways. Although I would like it if it was warmer in the winter. We have had a rough one this year.

I moved away from my hometown in 1983, just 3 weeks after my 21st birthday. I moved back home briefly to stay with my parents for a few months when my children were born, but other than that, I am not that fond of my hometown. That being said, though, it's a lot cheaper there to live & it is much more rural and more conducive to the life I would like to live from this point forward--especially if we can get a place in the sticks, which is a lot more likely to happen there (Merced) than here (Sacramento). I am only two hours' drive away from my hometown but have not driven down there regularly for many, many years. I didn't have the best life there and couldn't WAIT to get out. As soon as I turned 21, I was GONE.

Now as I get older, I want to farm & there's some great farmland there.

Ain't life funny?

So at nearly 50, after not living in my home town for more than 27 years, I'm looking to move back to the area.

I grew up in alaska and now live in southern california with many places in between. I don't like where I live now but I wouldn't go back to living in anchorage but I do want to live some place that it snows.
