How many of you that have pet chickens.........?

This one, NO I do not believe in treating for something "just in case" makes no sense at all in my book.

Mine aren't pets but I do most of the things you mentioned. We don't hold them often unless they squatch and then I'll bend down and pet them but I want my kids to understand that difference and not get attached. You certainly sound like a responsible and loving chicken owner:)f

You left out the one about carrying pictures of chickens in your wallet instead of kids/grandkids.

The list in the original post on this thread looks odd to me -- with the *possible* (but definitely not inevitable) exception of 'mourn the loss of', EVERYTHING on that list is whatcha need to do for LIVESTOCK too. It's all stuff that a decent small farmer does, and those who keep their chickens not as pets but for meat and eggs.

Obviously you do those things for pets *too*, I mean ;P, but they are not in the least pet-specific.

(Many who keep them solely as livestock also do other things proposed in later posts, like cooking and naming, too)

Just slightly puzzled,

Pat
