How many ornamental waterfowl?

Soon ill be building a new duck aviary I WANT it to be 50"x100" with a 45x45 pond but my dad says other wise. He wants me to build a 50"x50" pen with a 45"x25" pond this was a major downer. If I end up having to build it so small how many ducks could I house in their ill also be letting the mothers do most of the child rearing (except maybe for the wood ducks)

It will still be big enough to keep allot of ducks. I think 10 pairs or if you take some smaller ducks you will be able to keep about 13. Keep in mind don't buy agresive and have a separate pen for when they have chicks this way you chiks have a better surviving change and they and grow up there for a few weeks and then go back to thier aviary. Do keep in mind the ducks will litter allot if it gets to crowded and you will have to look out for infections or desieses

Yea I have another pen that's 10x12 I could put a barrier in it so I could put one mom and chicks in them I also have other places but I still might need to take the woodie babies or put them under a muscovy

What kind of birds are you getting tack?

Well I got them this weekend and they are doing great and fun to watch

Fulvous whistling-duck

When I have time I will take some pictures of them and post it

Tufted duck

Hooded merganser

And a pair of carolina wood ducks

I dident get many yet I will just keep them until the end of the season and then make some changes like take out the agresive ones or the ones I leaded enjoyed. This way i should get good breeding results

Those tufted ducks look pretty cool! Are they hard to raise? Lol if they are I prob won't get them for a couple of years

No there are really easy they are divers but they can live of normal duck food

Well sense your already on the subject I have a aviary that its almost square and is 75ft X 125ft. an has 3 ponds 1 is 24X12 and 3 feet deep an one of the other one is 10X10.
How many approx do you think I can keep and them still be happy and healthy?

I have one clue about this so why do you put them under Mcovies? Are they calmer if you do???
