How many people ski? oh yea downhill or xc :P

no I haven't been to craftsbury for a race because I downhill ski.

Well, I was actually just wondering if you were near there because it's a great place and so beautiful! Very different feeling from where I live now in the West Central part of the state.

I grew up downhill skiing until I was about a teenager and then my family learned xc skiing. Now I only xc. I like the exercise!

Yes craftsbury is a good hour trip. The scenery there is so beautiful this time of year. I am up north near St.Albans, Milton, Swanton.

I prefer my spine in one piece, so I xcountry

(I am a bit of a klutz on skis.) We have a billion trails that we can get to right off our property and its a GREAT workout!

Forgot to add that we snowshoe tons with the kids- its a great way to introduce them to the idea of cruising around in the cold

We ski, though last year skied not at ALL, despite it being a good snow year. We were a little busy trying to sell a house... I am hoping we will get some days this year. I have done most my skiing in bitterly cold, icy, character forming New England. Some of you will understand what I mean <grin>.

Fav areas in the northeast:
Sugarloaf
Sugarbush
Jay Peak (if you time it right)

Fav areas elsewhere (I haven't been to that many out west):
Whistler (1 day snuck in a non-skiing trip)
The Canyons - Park City is a lot of fun (again, snuck on a biz trip)
Breckenridge (week long, enjoyed it all)

I would LOVE to go to someplace in Idaho or Montana. I imagine beautiful uncrowded mountains with awesome trails...

edit to add: oh yeah, we do a lot of snowshoeing too. Has a benefit of being basically free (once you have the shoes and some cold weather clothes).

I don't ski, I just roll down the hill.

I tried it one time and that was all it took. I fell getting OFF the lift and it only got better from there.

It was my first and last time I ever skied, um, I mean rolled down the hill.
