Our lot is .87. We fenced in the entire lot except for the front yard. Very limited free range though due to many hawks.

We have 3 acres and most of it is backyard. From the house to the road is maybe 25 ft lol. So yep my 60+ chickens are definitely Backyard Chickens.

We have 3 subdivision "lots" or supposedly about 1/3+ acre.
The fence contains them in the back yard (mostly)

So yes I have Back Yard Chickens! or "Yard Birds" as my friend calls them

We live in a subdivision on a corner lot. SOme of my neighbors hate my hens because they think it lowers the value of the property. Hah, don't think so!
