Some of them get a bit dirty so I like to NOT have poopy eggs in my fridge.
 
I am a non-washer. I keep my coop clean and the nests are never dirty. Even if they have some mud skids or something, we go au' naturelle (or whatever!) dirt & germs make us stronger!

I don't wash, but if you absolutely have to wash it's important to use hot water -- water hotter than the egg itself, not cool.
