I haven't sewn in years... I have 4 top stitchers...one is an old Anker (treadle remodeled with "new" motor), and an industrial topstitcher and another one for diamond tuck... ha ha... I haven't stitched a stitch in many many years. oh and a serger... I still use that for repairs

I say yes! That's how I got started. I'm still impressed with people that sew by hand...I don't have much patience for it anymore in this world of instant gratification

I've got two Husqvarnas - a simple, older model; and a Lily 550 that I bought myself last Christmas on Ebay (I really, really wanted a machine that would do the blanket stitch for applique)

A treadle that DH bought for my bday. I've never used it and that irritates him, but I'm afraid I'll break it or mess it up horribly!

And my baby, a 1994 Gammill Longarm - she's a reallllyyyyy oldy but goody!

For those who are wondering, a Longarm is a very large sewing machine for quilting that sits on tracks. Instead of moving the quilt under the needle area -- you move the sewing machine around the quilt. The table is 10 or 12 feet long to accomodate a large quilt. Mine is about 3 feet tall or so. You could google and find out more. Some of the brands are Tin Lizzie, Gammill, APQS.

I'll try to up load a pix of mine tomorrow at work (we're on dialup at home and it would take days to upload)

OOh, a Gammill was my dream, and I "test drove" one at a Quilt Expo in Portland.
But it was out of my price range.

I love my HQ16 and just finished a quilt on it.

Our club has 2 machines now, one of the mom's brought in another Brother for us to use. It's newer but not in as good condition as the other. It's missing the cover in front of the bobbin and the piece that holds the accessories in front of that,, but it works!

I have 2 brother single/double needle machine's and a Brother serger.I worked in the sewing industry for 15 years. My mom used to sew when I was little and done the quilting thing etc.I have always made my kid's the best halloween costume's etc. through thier childhood.I am working on some custom swim and dancewear now and have for a few year's.I dont get to work on my design's nearly as much now with the grandson full time but still love sewing.
