My condolences on your losses (both the recent and older ones) and I am so sorry that you have to put up with such a !$&*^&# of a neighbor.

I agree with the moonshiner that you are probably restricted legally to replacement value but realistically to whatever you can get from your neighbor.

Have you thought about trapping the dog? I am assuming that the dog is coming by when you aren't around to implement a more permanent solution.

Thank you everyone for your support, as of right now he agreed to 50$. I'm hoping it will hold up. I didn't file a police report yet, because if it goes that far, I would be concerned he would retaliate. But I'm more than ready to, it's just, when he lives across a 10ft dirt road, you don't exactly want to piss them off heh.

So finally got the real story after all this drama, the man let his 15y/o son play with the dog while he was at work. The boy was alone, and the dog took off, the boy couldn't find or catch him. The kid was all upset and crying, but I'm still wanting some money.
Its all settled now, I'm glad it's working out, this could've gone from bad to worse. Thank you all for your information, I'm very grateful

Last summer two pit bulls got loose in my neighborhood and killed a llama and over 50 chickens. None of them mine, thank god. And despite being reported as aggressive dogs by countless people, the city still let the owners keep their dogs with only a warning.

Holy smokes! That is horrifying on so many levels!
