You can't tell once they are over 2 years, really.
As for price, a hen around here would go for maybe $50 (and you'd have to wait for a buyer most likely. I know I'd be leery of spending that much without knowing more about her age and health). People often LIST them a lot higher, but an india blue female with no known splits or mutations is not going to be worth as much- as evident by the fact that those higher listings stay around forever. The last pied female I got was $70.
Nate, I'm not surprised they don't sell near you; florida has a healthy wild population and I know a lot of people who consider them to be PESTS. Wish we had "pests" like that here!!
Good point....will have to remember that for next time.I have found that no matter what kind of fowl i sell they always sell better thew first of spring, after that things seem to tapper off, mabe that is the case where you are at.
Yes, there are several populations around Tampa but not in my immediate area...I have seen so many neighborhoods divided over peafowl. Those that want them gone and those that are feeding them!Nate, I'm not surprised they don't sell near you; florida has a healthy wild population and I know a lot of people who consider them to be PESTS. I doubt it's going to do any harm to adult birds. I rarely see overly aggressive peafowl and most of them were male. Though it's going to be pretty hard to catch. She's probably just lonely which is why she's hanging around your flockAnother thing, are they aggressive??? Will they harm my silkies or my kids or me if we tried ttouch it ?
