How much did you spend on your DIY coop?

I'm probably close to $2000 for a 5X10 coop with a 18X8 run, just finishing up now.
Both fully enclosed with metal roof over all of it. Much more than anticipated but it always is because I always overbuild everything for some reason.
I kept having to tell myself that this is just a damn chicken coop, obviously that didn't help with curbing the spending either...oh well, just money and I'm doing okay.

I'm putting the finishing touches on my new coop. 12'x8' fully enclosed and half-roofed run with a 3'x8' elevated henhouse inside. I made a lot of separate purchases and didn't keep super close track of the total cost, but I'd estimate somewhere just north of $500. Most of the material was new, but I was able to grab enough old lumber from a reno next door to save me $100-$200.

Not done yet, but we are at about $50 in materials. We will probably hit $150 after wire is purchased. Almost the only thing purchased has been hardware and oops paint. My husband brought home a ton of pallets from work, and everything else we got for free or drastically reduced from places like ReStore.

My dad knew someone at work who just redid their barn, so we got scrap metal roofing from there. There were 2x4's,windows, blocks, and scraps under our house from the previous owners. Home Depot gave us $25 to sign up for their credit card so we got $25 worth of 2x3's. Check the dump, or even rural roads for illegal dumping sites, apartment dumpsters, trash day curbs..

If you are patient and the stars align you can make a coop for next to nothing.
