How much feather loss while molting.

So my poor flock looks like the encountered a demented barber. Probably half the flock is bald above the base of their tails in varying degrees. and some have feather loss around their vent. I attributed this to molting. But it seems like a lot and everything I read says they molt in the winter and that they stop laying. Well the girls are laying just fine.

I checked for mites and see nothing. Furthermore the chickens aren't scratching or showing any indication of caring.

Please tell me my birds are just molting. This is about one year from raising them as chicks...our first time.

do you have a rooster? That could account for the sore spots above the tail.
