A permit for chickens? I've never heard of such a thing around here, and even if there was one, good luck getting Vermonters to pony up the money!
The only charges we have for animals is for dogs and wolf-hybrids: $15 a year for intact, $7 for spayed/neutered.

Wow, $15 for dogs in Vermont? They charge $50 a piece per year per cat AND per dog. I am thinkin highway robbery now!

So far we sound like we are about the highest. Geez and in the top ten for property taxes, income taxes...eeesh, the lovely midwest!

I've never even heard of permits for dogs and cats! I have heard of them for chickens, but I don't have to have a permit here in the city. I can keep up to 5 hens no roosters as long as you have 10,000 sf of property or your neighbors' permission if you have less. No inspections or any of that either.

The odrinance change being proposed here (first vote next Monday! Yikes!) will require a $50 initial application fee, then $25 annually for up to 6 hens. You will have to submit plans for the coop and have it inspected to be sure it adheres to the strict setback and building regulations.

Excessive, IMHO, but at this point I am willing to accept just about anything if they will just LET US HAVE OUR CHICKENS!!!

Actually, dog license fees are set by the towns. Some are higher, I'm sure.

Wow I love where I live. I can have my chickens wherever and have however many I want. As for dogs you do need to liscence them. 2.50 for spayed/neutered 7 for if they are intact.
