How much love is too much love for chickens?

Are you a CHICKAHOLIC????

Ask yourself these questions:

1. Do you check on your chickens BEFORE BREAKFAST?

2. DO you, (or have you ever) LIE about how many chickens you have?

3. Do you, or have you ever, tried to HIDE any of your chickens from anybody so they would not know how many you actually have?

4. Do you have MORE PICTURES of your chickens in your phone than you do of your kids? BE HONEST NOW.

5. Has anyone ever told you, or suggested, that you have too many chickens, or that you might be becoming too attached to them? And if so, are you still friends with that person?

6. Have you ever dreamed, or wished that you were a chicken?

Thank you. If you answered YES to any 3 of these questions (excrpt for 5b) it is likely you ARE a Chickaholic. Don't fear, it's a common malady. There is NO CURE but it can be managed. We highly recommend GROUP THERAPY in the form of ACTIVE membership here at BYC and continued ownership of at least one more chicken than you can actually afford/ manage! Happy chickening!

* Note: Organization does not actually exist. It is but a figment if my overly active imagiination. But I think it SHOULD! Thank you for your time!

I woke up from a dream the other night of all the chickens happily napping on my bed and I slowly worked my way into the pile. I woke up sad when I realize it wasn't actually happening so I headed outside to give then treats and cuddles, then I felt better.

*Note: no chickens actually come inside after being put out unless they're sick or injured (at least not yet, but I've only had them since Feb)

The more you love anything, including your chickens, the more you will hurt when something happens to them. That's no reason not to love them. Love deeply, fiercely, truly, freely. It's the only way to love. Don't hold back for fear of being hurt. That love will sustain you later. ❤️

FH, I don't think anyone loves their chickens more than you do. :hugs ❤️
I beg to differ. Even when they frustrate me, I still love them. I have a Dominique hen that is FINALLY coming out of molt.

I would put on old coveralls, lay down in the coop with her and tuck her inside the coveralls to keep her warm.
