How much love is too much love for chickens?

Okay, I do have to draw the line there. The bed is my friend. I’d be more likely to put them in their own crate next to the bed rather than sleep in their coop. That is if my husband would allow such a thing.
What would you say if I told you a badger went past my coop at one point. He wasn't rolling out the welcome wagon. I had a firearm with me at the time.

Did you get him? I had a friend who had a raccoon that would scope out his coop. He would try to shoot it and miss every time.

Are you a CHICKAHOLIC????

Ask yourself these questions:

1. Do you check on your chickens BEFORE BREAKFAST?

2. DO you, (or have you ever) LIE about how many chickens you have?

3. Do you, or have you ever, tried to HIDE any of your chickens from anybody so they would not know how many you actually have?

4. Do you have MORE PICTURES of your chickens in your phone than you do of your kids? BE HONEST NOW.

5. Has anyone ever told you, or suggested, that you have too many chickens, or that you might be becoming too attached to them? And if so, are you still friends with that person?

6. Have you ever dreamed, or wished that you were a chicken?

Thank you. If you answered YES to any 3 of these questions (excrpt for 5b) it is likely you ARE a Chickaholic. Don't fear, it's a common malady. There is NO CURE but it can be managed. We highly recommend GROUP THERAPY in the form of ACTIVE membership here at BYC and continued ownership of at least one more chicken than you can actually afford/ manage! Happy chickening!

* Note: Organization does not actually exist. It is but a figment if my overly active imagiination. But I think it SHOULD! Thank you for your time!

I don't miss. Besides, you wouldn't want to tick off a badger at close range. Racoons are a joke.

As I live where I live... I see less and less raccoons. I wonder what's happening to them🤔

Glad I don’t have badgers where I live then. We do have coyotes, bears, opossums, bobcats, hawks, falcons, and eagles. It’s why I have an electric fence on a cattle fence with barbed wire with a coop on a paver brick foundation, buried hardware around it, 1/4” hardware cloth on the coop and run with a roof and lots of carabiners and latches to keep critters out. The rifle’s a backup to all that but so far nothing has gotten in.
