how much pinicilin

Chicken with swollen ankle, foul odor. Some nice member sugessted pinicillin. How much ? How often ? Injection site ? Needle size (max) ? (It is so thick.) Any /all info appreciated. Thanks!

I've used a 20 guage needle and it worked fine. Give it in the breast on their left side. (not the side their crop is on) I believe dosage was 1/2 cc, given over 4 or 5 days, but I'm not 100% positive on that.

Dose should be based on weight and caution should be used when using in small birds as procaine toxicity is a concern.

I have read elsewhere and here on BYC that 1/10 of a cc/ml is the dose for chickens.
