Hi, I'm thinking of getting a pair of California quail and hopefully some chicks from them :). I just need to know how much space they need in their cage vertically in inches and ft² horizontally. Can anyone help me please?. Oh and what shall I put as a decorative piece inside their cage, eg: branch, leaves, ect.... tks :)

I keep a pair in a coop with a pair of bobwhites and a pair of golden pheasants. The coop's dimensions are 2.4m by 1.8m. I think this is 7.9 foot by 5.9 foot. This is 46.5 square feet for my coop (I think. I don't work in feet). Mine love perching so I'd add perches in there. I've also put a rabbit hutch in there for shelter. I added some plants but they ate them pretty quickly.

This is my coop.

I've had them since June. I haven't hatched any chicks yet. Could be because of the other birds in there. Though where I live it is early spring so I could get some soon.

Hope this helps.
